VIDEO SESSION 8: Complex Pelvic Access and Specimen Management: Hysterectomy, Extraction, and Advanced Approaches
Monday, November 16, 2026
11:35 am - 12:35 pm
Room: RM311
Faculty: Ricardo M.A. Pereira, Santhosh P, Chang Liu, Julia M. Moyett, Jose Garza Leal, Monica N. Allen, Samara Sabur
Description: This session addresses situations in which anatomy, pathology, body habitus, or specimen size makes access and extraction unusually difficult. Videos demonstrate preoperative modeling, single-site and extraperitoneal access, complex hysterectomy, rare pelvic masses, tissue containment, and efficient management of large uteri.
Learning Objectives: At the end of this course, the participant will be able to:
- Match access and extraction strategies to anatomy and specimen characteristics.
- Apply containment and transvaginal extraction principles safely.
- Recognize when extraperitoneal, single-site, or alternative approaches add value.
- Improve efficiency during complex hysterectomy and large-uterus surgery.
